Laminate Flooring Perth & Joondalup
The classic timber look at outstanding value — laminate flooring is durable, easy to maintain and available in a huge range of styles. Expertly installed by our team across Perth & Joondalup.
What Is Laminate Flooring?
Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic product with a high-density fibreboard (HDF) core, a photographic design layer that replicates timber or stone, and a tough aluminium oxide wear layer on top. It is installed as a floating floor using a click-lock system.
Laminate requires a very flat, firm subfloor to perform correctly. In certain cases it can go directly over tiles, but in other cases self-levelling compound is needed first. We are pedantic about getting this right — a poorly prepared subfloor is the number one cause of laminate failures.
With the right preparation and installation, laminate flooring is one of the most cost-effective ways to achieve a beautiful, durable timber look throughout your Perth or Joondalup home or commercial space.

Why Choose Laminate Flooring?
Exceptional Value
Laminate delivers the classic look of real hardwood at a fraction of the cost. Advanced printing technology makes today's laminate virtually indistinguishable from natural timber.
Highly Durable
The aluminium oxide wear layer on quality laminate is extremely hard-wearing, making it resistant to scratches, dents and heavy foot traffic — ideal for busy households.
May Go Over Tiles
In certain cases laminate can go directly over existing tiles. However, in some cases self-levelling compound is still required to achieve the flat surface laminate demands for a long-lasting result.
Easy to Maintain
Laminate is one of the easiest floors to keep clean. Regular sweeping and occasional damp mopping is all that's needed to keep it looking great for years.
Wide Range of Styles
From light Scandinavian oaks to rich dark timbers, laminate is available in an enormous range of colours, textures and plank widths to suit any interior style.
Floating Installation
Laminate is installed as a floating floor, meaning it can be laid over most existing subfloors without adhesive — making it a practical and cost-effective solution.

Common Questions
Can laminate go directly over tiles?
In certain cases yes — laminate can go directly over your tiles. However, in some cases self-levelling compound is needed first to bring the surface within the flat tolerance laminate requires for a long-lasting result. Grout lines that are too deep or tiles that are not firmly bonded will need to be addressed before installation.
Is laminate suitable for wet areas?
Standard laminate is not recommended for wet areas such as bathrooms or laundries. It can be used in kitchens with care, but any water ingress at the joins can cause swelling over time. For wet areas, we recommend hybrid or vinyl plank flooring instead.
What AC rating should I choose?
For residential use, AC3 or AC4 rated laminate is recommended. For commercial applications or high-traffic areas, AC5 is the appropriate choice. We can advise on the right rating for your specific project and lifestyle.
How long does laminate flooring last?
Quality laminate installed on a properly prepared subfloor typically lasts 15–25 years in residential settings. The wear layer thickness and AC rating are the key factors in longevity. Proper maintenance — keeping it dry and using felt pads under furniture — extends its life significantly.
Do you install laminate flooring in Joondalup and the northern suburbs?
Yes — we service all of Perth including Joondalup, Wanneroo, Kingsley, Duncraig, Hillarys, Currambine, Ocean Reef, Edgewater and surrounding northern suburbs. We also cover the southern suburbs and eastern corridor.
How much does laminate flooring installation cost in Perth?
Laminate flooring installation in Perth typically ranges from $35–$60 per square metre for supply and install, depending on the product selected, subfloor condition and job complexity. Laminate is generally the most cost-effective timber-look flooring option. We provide detailed, itemised quotes with no hidden charges.
Does laminate need underlay?
Yes — laminate flooring always requires an underlay. The underlay provides cushioning, reduces impact noise, provides a small amount of thermal insulation, and helps the floor float smoothly over minor subfloor imperfections. Some premium laminate products come with an attached underlay; others require a separate underlay to be installed first.
