Vinyl Plank Flooring Perth & Joondalup
Waterproof, durable and strikingly realistic — vinyl plank flooring is one of Perth & Joondalup's most popular choices. Properly prepared and expertly installed by Exquisite Flooring.
What Is Vinyl Plank Flooring?
Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product engineered to replicate the look and feel of real timber. Its construction includes a rigid or flexible core, a photographic design layer, and a tough wear layer on top — giving it outstanding durability and water resistance.
One thing we are absolutely clear about: vinyl plank must never be laid directly over tiles. Self-levelling compound is always required first. Skipping this step results in grout lines telegraphing through the planks, leaving the floor looking uneven and unflat — and it will never look right.
When installed correctly on a properly prepared subfloor, vinyl plank flooring is one of the most durable and low-maintenance vinyl flooring options available for Perth homes and commercial spaces.

Why Choose Vinyl Plank?
Must Be Self-Levelled First
Unlike other flooring types, vinyl plank requires a perfectly flat, smooth subfloor. Self-levelling compound must be applied over tiles or uneven surfaces before installation — no exceptions.
Pet & Family Friendly
Highly resistant to scratches and scuffs, making it ideal for homes with pets and children. Easy to clean and maintain with regular sweeping and mopping.
100% Waterproof
Vinyl plank is fully waterproof throughout its entire thickness, making it suitable for wet areas including laundries and bathrooms.
Comfortable Underfoot
The flexible core provides a softer, warmer feel underfoot compared to tiles or stone, and many products include an attached underlay for added comfort and sound reduction.
Realistic Timber & Stone Looks
Advanced embossing technology creates incredibly realistic timber and stone visuals at a fraction of the cost of natural materials.
Suitable for All Areas
From living rooms and bedrooms to kitchens and bathrooms — vinyl plank performs consistently across all areas of the home.

Common Questions
Can vinyl plank go directly over tiles?
No — vinyl plank cannot go directly over tiles. Self-levelling compound must be applied first to create a smooth, flat surface. Without this, grout lines telegraph through the planks and the floor will look uneven and unflat. This is one of the most common mistakes we see from DIY installs and cheaper operators.
How thick should vinyl plank be?
We generally recommend a minimum of 6mm for residential use. Thicker boards (6.5mm–8mm) offer better sound insulation and a more solid feel underfoot. The wear layer is equally important — look for at least 0.3mm (30 mil) for residential use and 0.5mm (50 mil) for high-traffic areas.
Is vinyl plank suitable for wet areas?
Yes — vinyl plank is 100% waterproof throughout its entire thickness and is suitable for bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. Ensure all joins and edges are properly sealed and that the subfloor is also moisture-managed.
How long does vinyl plank last?
Quality vinyl plank installed correctly on a properly prepared subfloor can last 20–25 years or more. The wear layer thickness is the key factor in longevity — thicker wear layers resist scratching and surface wear far longer.
Do you install vinyl plank in Joondalup and the northern suburbs?
Yes — we service all of Perth including Joondalup, Wanneroo, Kingsley, Duncraig, Hillarys, Currambine, Ocean Reef, Edgewater and surrounding northern suburbs. We also cover the southern suburbs and eastern corridor.
What is the difference between vinyl plank and hybrid flooring?
Vinyl plank has a flexible core and is generally softer underfoot, but requires very stringent subfloor preparation — particularly self-levelling over tiles. Hybrid flooring has a rigid stone-composite core, making it more dimensionally stable and in some cases able to go directly over tiles. We can advise which is better suited to your specific subfloor and lifestyle.
How much does vinyl plank installation cost in Perth?
Vinyl plank installation in Perth typically ranges from $40–$70 per square metre for supply and install, depending on the product selected, subfloor condition and the complexity of the job. Subfloor preparation (self-levelling compound) is an additional cost if required. We provide detailed, itemised quotes with no hidden charges.
